The journey offers views of tea plantations, rural villages, and lush landscapes. After arrival, settle into your lodge, surrounded by the park's vibrant greenery, and enjoy a relaxing evening as you prepare for the chimpanzee adventure.
Early in the morning, embark on an unforgettable chimpanzee trekking experience in Kibale Forest. After a briefing from experienced park rangers, enter the forest to search for a troop of habituated chimpanzees. Trekking through the dense undergrowth and listening to the calls of the forest, you’ll have the chance to observe the chimpanzees’ playful interactions, feeding, and grooming behaviors.
In the afternoon, enjoy a guided nature walk in the Bigodi Wetlands Sanctuary, a community-run conservation area near Kibale Forest. This eco-tourism project offers an opportunity to spot more wildlife, including red colobus monkeys, L'Hoest's monkeys, and a wide variety of birds, including the great blue turaco.
After breakfast, embark on a scenic drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. The journey takes you through Uganda’s diverse countryside, passing vibrant markets, traditional homesteads, and terraced hillsides. Bwindi, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is known for its rich biodiversity and dense rainforest, which is home to nearly half of the world’s endangered mountain gorillas. Arrive at your lodge in the heart of Bwindi and unwind as you prepare for the following day’s gorilla trekking adventure.
Today is the highlight of your safari – an unforgettable gorilla trekking experience. After a morning briefing by park rangers, venture into Bwindi’s dense foliage, following narrow trails as you search for a habituated gorilla family. Trekking can take several hours, but the encounter is worth every step. Upon finding the gorillas, spend a precious hour observing these magnificent creatures as they go about their daily lives in their natural environment. This experience provides unparalleled photo opportunities and a unique insight into the lives of mountain gorillas.
In the evening, return to your lodge, where you can relax and reflect on the day’s profound experiences. You may also enjoy an optional cultural encounter with the local Batwa community, gaining insight into their traditional forest life.
